Collins Family Fall Update

Classes are in full swing at Puebla Bible Seminary. This semester I am teaching 3 courses: Greek 3: Introduction to Exegesis and Pentateuch and Historical Books (2 modules: in-person and online). Beyond the great opportunities I have for student interaction in class, I’ve had many opportunities to pour into students outside of the classroom.

Juan Carlos is one student we’ve had the opportunity to support and pour into over the last couple of years. He is in his final full year of seminary classes, and I’ve had him in all 4 language classes I teach. He has come to me many times for advice in ministry, in his walk with God, relationships, and other personal issues.

Caleb is a very hardworking student who is also a great leader and a very godly young man. I’ve had him in 4 classes now, and it’s very encouraging to me to see his passion for God, his compassionate servant’s heart, and his dedication to his work. I’ve had many opportunities to pray with him and offer him counsel.

Daniela has been my student in 4 courses as well, and she is a very hard worker and a very intelligent student, as well as a member of our church. Her dad, Enrique (also a fellow church member) recently passed away, and her mom is still in recovery after their whole family got sick. We’ve had the opportunity to support her and walk with her through this difficult time, and it’s encouraging to see her faith and perseverance.

Pedro is one of my new students this semester. He had a very difficult childhood and only recently came to Christ in the last couple of years, but he is probably the most passionate and hardworking student I’ve had in my 3+ years at the seminary. I recently took him along with me to my discipleship in Huilango, and I really enjoyed getting to know him and hearing his heart for the Lord.

Our church, Iglesia Bíblica Bautista Ágape, recently celebrated its 3rd anniversary, and we are very grateful for both the friendships we’ve formed there as well as many opportunities to minister through music, teaching, preaching, and discipleship.

We’ve continued to serve in our other areas of ministry this semester as well, though we have been busiest at the seminary. I continue to disciple pastor Azael and his family in Huilango, share devotionals with the girls’ home, and Sarah has Bible studies with Laura from the girls’ home, and she ministers to many people through her baking.
Thank you so much for your support and prayers for us as we serve the Lord here in Puebla!

Mexico, Here We Come!

Tomorrow morning, while you will probably still be sleeping, we will begin our journey to Mexico. Our first flight is scheduled just before 5:30 AM, and we will be traveling all day with two connecting flights before we get to Puebla, Mexico tomorrow evening. We found out today that the airline we are flying with (Delta) had a major glitch in their system a couple days ago with hundreds of flights canceled, and so we are hoping and praying that our flights will not be canceled or delayed tomorrow. Please pray with us for safe and timely travel and connections tomorrow, and for patience and wisdom should we have to deal with canceled or delayed flights. Please pray for our different opportunities while we are in Mexico. We will have opportunities to meet many missionaries and other contacts in the Puebla area. We will have opportunities to see a variety of ministries and places we can serve in the future. We will have opportunities to share the gospel as I (Chris) speak at an orphanage...

Puebla Bible Seminary The semester is over and most of the students are back with their families and serving with their home churches over Christmas break. This semester I had 29 students between the three courses I taught, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to teach them the Scriptures and the biblical languages. Group photo of this year's seminary students At the end of the semester, we had a time of food and fellowship with each class, and it was meaningful to hear all that the students had learned throughout the semester and how they’ve grown in their relationship with God and knowledge of His Word. We ended the semester with a fellowship of all the students and staff around a campfire, with games, singing, testimonies, and carne asada. I especially enjoyed hearing the testimonies of the students and what God has done in their lives. Collins Family Update June 2022

Dear praying friends, The last few months have been turbulent for our family to say the least, as we have navigated a major life and ministry change. Thank you to all who have been praying for us! It has been so encouraging to have so many people reach out and remind us that they’re praying. We want to give you an update and ask for your continued prayers. My parents flew down to Puebla in early April to help us with our move back to the States. They were such a blessing to us as we worked through all the details of leaving Mexico, including packing our suitcases, holding a sale, and getting rid of all of our things there. We came back with just our suitcases full of mostly books and clothes, and we’ve been living out of suitcases for the last two and a half months. We were so encouraged and blessed by a generous offering from one of our supporting churches, Suber Road Baptist Church, which will help us a good bit with getting furniture and other necessities when we get our own pla...
