Spring 2021 Ministry Update

Children’s homes

Boys’ home

With the boys’ home, we´ve had opportunities to share devotionals, play soccer with them at the seminary, and make pizzas together.

One of the older boys, Emilio, celebrated his birthday earlier this month, and we were invited to join them for a birthday party!

 Girls’ home

At the girls’ home we’ve continued visiting every Friday night. I share a devotional with the girls about the attributes of God, and Sarah teaches them how to make desserts and other foods.

A couple of the girls also had birthday parties recently, and we were invited to celebrate with them!

One of the girls, Laura, asked Sarah to do a regular personal Bible study with her, and Sarah has invited her to come over to our home for lunch and a Bible study on Thursdays. She has been very receptive and asks really good questions.

Several new girls arrived a couple months ago from another children’s home in Mexico, so there are now 14 girls. We are thankful for the opportunity to have an impact on their lives.

Discipleship in Huilango

A newer and very exciting ministry we have is in San Francisco Huilango, where I disciple pastor Azael and his congregation. We’ve been studying through the attributes of God, and we recently started a study on the Gospel of Matthew. I’m so excited to see how hungry the people are to learn about God’s Word.

Puebla Bible Seminary

Classes

This semester I’m teaching Hebrew and Greek 2, and we’ve got just a few weeks to go. I’d appreciate your prayers for wisdom in how to help and encourage students, and that they would persevere and finish well despite the difficulty of online classes.

 Helping students

Some students have asked for extra help with the classes, so I’ve done some tutoring outside of class as well. It is encouraging when students are trying really hard even if they’re struggling.

We have also been able to encourage the students living at the seminary with some groceries and some special meals for them. It is a joy to serve these young men and women who are preparing to serve in ministry.

Iglesia Bautista Bíblica Ágape

We are continuing to serve as well in our local church. I serve as an elder, and I oversee our music ministry and our Sunday school program. We are currently working through a study on the attributes of God.

Thank you!

For those who pray for us and support us financially, thank you! We could not be here without you. Thank you for participating in God’s work in Mexico.

We appreciate your continued prayers for our family and our ministry, that God would continue His work here and give us strength for the opportunities He gives us.

Your fellow servants in Christ,

Chris, Sarah, Mikey, and Sammy Collins

To Full Support and Beyond

Full Support! We have shared this with some of you in person already, but we wanted to let you all know we have reached our full support! Praise God for his provision! We know that many of you have been praying for us to reach our full support, and God has answered those prayers. What’s Next? Commissioning Services We shared in our last newsletter that we are having commissioning services at our two home churches, Bible Baptist in Traverse City, MI on April 8, and Suber Road Baptist in Greer, SC on April 15. We are excited for these opportunities to celebrate what God has done and His call on our lives. Visas The main hurdle we still need to cross before heading to the field is obtaining our temporary residence visas. We began working through this process over 5 weeks ago, and we have learned that it takes longer than we originally expected. We are waiting on a letter from the seminary in Mexico that we need in order to apply for the visa. Once the letter co...

Collins Family Update: March 2022

Changing Ministry Location Many of you already know that we are planning to move back to the States in the near future. We have shared with many of you the reasons for this change, but if anyone has questions or concerns about this decision, please feel free to reach out to us. We are planning to arrive back in the States in mid-April, and we hope to see many of you then. We are currently pursuing an opportunity to serve in pastoral ministry in the northern Michigan area, and we are waiting for an answer from the church. While we patiently wait for God’s leading in our ministry change, we are continuing to serve in our ministries in Mexico, and we will continue serving via online ministry once we are back in the States. We expect to need missions support at least through the end of May, and perhaps longer depending on how God leads us in the next two months. We will do our best to keep in touch with our supporters as we learn how God is leading our family and ministry. We would ask ...

Goals and Habits for 2021

I've set some pretty big goals for the coming year. With God's help and with some encouragement and accountability I think I can reach these goals and so improve spiritually, physically, relationally, and mentally. Here are the goals organized by categories along with the habits I plan to practice to help me reach the goals. Spiritual Goals Bible Reading Goal : Read/listen through Bible 5 times (ESV, NTV/NBLA, NLT audio 3x) Habits : Follow 5 day/week Bible reading schedule reading each passage in 2 translations; listen to audio 3 days’ worth per day; take 2 days a week to meditate on and apply readings. Prayer Goal : Have a regular personal prayer time (besides “praying without ceasing”) Habits : 10-15 minutes of daily scheduled prayer time (praying through lists and/or Scripture). Memorization Goal : Memorize 1 verse/month in English (ESV), Spanish (NBLA) and original language. Habits : Print and hang verses in the kitchen and review daily in the morning. Mem...
