August Newsletter Update

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial partnership with us. You are a blessing to us.

Support Raising Update
By God’s grace, we have crossed the halfway point in our monthly committed support! We are over 50% of the way to full support, with the majority coming from individuals. Praise God with us for how He is providing! Our goal is to be near or at 100% of our monthly goal by the end of September. To reach our goal, we need an additional 20-40 monthly ministry partners.

If you are not already partnering with us, would you prayerfully consider how you could be part of our ministry by partnering with us financially and in prayer? We would love to have you as our ministry partner in advancing the gospel in Mexico.

Church Presentations
We have been privileged to share our ministry with three churches over the last couple months, and two of them are considering taking us on for monthly support. We are very thankful for these opportunities God has given us to present our ministry.

Another exciting presentation opportunity we had was with Kids on a Mission and Teens on a Mission. Suber Road Baptist Church has developed this program to help the young people learn about their missionaries and the countries and cultures they live in. We were able to share with them a little about Mexico and the ministry we will be doing at the seminary and with kids in the orphanage there. We were also able to share with the teens about how God called both of us into mission work when we were teens, and encourage them to see how they can get involved in both international missions as well as find ways they can serve in their community.

Individual Missions Presentations
As we’ve shared before, our main focus in our support raising ministry has been with individuals. Over 90% of our current monthly support is from individuals—family, friends, and church family. We have enjoyed connecting with dozens of individuals and families over the last couple months, and many have decided to partner with us in our mission work. If you are interested in meeting with us to learn more about what God is calling us to do, we would love to have the opportunity. Please reach out to us at ccollins@caminoglobal.org or Chris’s cell: 231-878-4567.

Other Ministry Opportunities
In addition to our support raising ministry, we have found other opportunities to minister in the Greenville area where we’re living now. We have had opportunities to minister at Suber Road Baptist, where Chris grew up. Sarah has enjoyed working with the children, and Chris has served in music ministry.

Chris also has had the opportunity to speak twice at Miracle Hill Ministries’ Overcomers ministry (an addiction recovery program).

Through these opportunities we have been able to continue to use and develop our gifts as we prepare to serve the Lord in Mexico.

Praise and Prayer Requests
  •          Praise God for His provision for our support and personal needs!
  •          Pray for additional presentation opportunities
  •          Pray for 20-40 additional ministry partners
  •          Pray for continued spiritual growth and growth in our marriage.

Thank you again for your prayers and partnership with us as we serve the Lord!

Your fellow servants,

Chris and Sarah Collins

Collins Family Update: March 2022

Changing Ministry Location Many of you already know that we are planning to move back to the States in the near future. We have shared with many of you the reasons for this change, but if anyone has questions or concerns about this decision, please feel free to reach out to us. We are planning to arrive back in the States in mid-April, and we hope to see many of you then. We are currently pursuing an opportunity to serve in pastoral ministry in the northern Michigan area, and we are waiting for an answer from the church. While we patiently wait for God’s leading in our ministry change, we are continuing to serve in our ministries in Mexico, and we will continue serving via online ministry once we are back in the States. We expect to need missions support at least through the end of May, and perhaps longer depending on how God leads us in the next two months. We will do our best to keep in touch with our supporters as we learn how God is leading our family and ministry. We would ask ...

Same Mission, New Agency

A NEW AGENCY After months of prayer and consideration, along with counsel from pastors and other friends and family, we want to inform you of a big and exciting change for us! In an effort to be the best stewards of the resources God has provided through our supporters, we are resigning from our current mission board, Avant, and we are transitioning to a new agency, Mission Quest ( https://missionquest.org ). WHAT IS CHANGING? This change does not affect our ministries here in Mexico. We plan to continue in the same ministry as before: Making disciples of Jesus Christ in Puebla, Mexico through orphan care, theological education, and church ministries . This is also not a change in doctrine . Our beliefs have not changed! You can check out Mission Quest’s doctrinal statement here: https://missionquest.org/about/Missionary-Statement-of-Faith/ WHY CHANGE? For us, this change is about stewardship . For our family to continue with Avant would not be good stewardship of th...

Collins Family Update May 2020

ANSWER TO PRAYER: LIZ BECAME A BELIEVER! If you’ve seen our recent newsletters, you may remember that we have been discipling a younger couple who live at the seminary and go to our church. Alfredo grew up in Niños de México (the organization we work with at the children’s homes). He has a hunger for God’s Word and is really enjoying his studies at the seminary. His wife Liz , however, was not a believer, but she agreed to move with him to Puebla so he could study at the seminary. Soon after they arrived, we invited them to come to church with us, and we began discipling them. We knew from the beginning that Liz was not a believer, and so we have been praying for her and consistently presenting the truths of the gospel to her. The Bible study we are doing with them about marriage is extremely gospel-focused, and Liz has been receptive to the teaching now for a few months. And so we knew she was close to trusting Christ. And then on Tuesday, April 28, Alfredo shared with us...
